If fitness is your thing, there are plenty of opportunities to keep up with your favourite activity throughout Rochdale borough.
Water activities
For all things water related, look no further than Littleborough and the Pennines. Hollingworth Lake Water Activity Centre, where you can kayak, sail, fish or powerboat to your heart’s content, and West Pennine Sailboard Club at Watergrove Reservoir, Wardle, are both surrounded by spectacular Pennine hill scenery to add to your enjoyment of the water.
At Hollingworth Lake Water Activity Centre, top quality instruction is on offer for all levels of ability, whether you’re working towards one of the many National Governing Body awards, looking to become an instructor or just seeking an exhilarating day out.
Equipment is constantly updated and replaced to ensure that daredevils who fancy trying their hand at windsurfing, yachting or paddlesports get the best possible experience.
Hollingworth Lake Water Activity Centre also has the Royal Yachting Association’s seal of approval, being designated their OnBoard centre for the North West of England. Onboard is a programme set up to encourage people to take up sailing and windsurfing, whatever their ability.
West Pennine Sailboard Club is possibly the best windsurfing club in the North of England. The club offers clean wind, cleaner water and a great clubhouse with hot showers. Annual membership includes opportunities for board storage and there is also day sailing for casual members. So if you are learning, still trying to crack that carve gybe or need somewhere to practice your flakas, get in touch and go for a sail with fantastic scenery.
